The Beginning

Rome was founded on April 21, 753 BC by Romulus and Remus. Romulus and Remus were twin brothers that were abandoned by their parents as babies. They were put in a basket and thrown in the river Tiber, but were saved by a she wolf named Lupa. Lupa nursed the children under a fig tree and a woodpecker named Picus fed the children. When Romulus and Remus were adults, they decided to found a city where they were saved by Lupa. While naming the city, Romulus and Remus came upon a disagreement. The brothers didn't agree on the name of the city. In the proccess of naming the civilization, Romulus killed Remus and named the city Rome, after himself.
